Being invited to the Cannes Film Festival is anything but a small feat. Not every artist receives such an honour—and one who does is definitely a force to be reckoned with.

This invite was sent to Brazilian-born Darwin del Fabro, a trans/non-binary actor, singer and producer who has been in the spotlight ever since being cast in John Logan’s They/Them, an LGBTQIA2S+ horror film. Their efforts to become the voice of the trans/non-binary community have finally paid off.

Del Fabro, who comes from a family of artists, has been successful in forging a name for herself on the big screen. They moved to the United States to pursue their dream of becoming a renowned artist representing their community and to appear as a role model for them.

It was not easy for del Fabro to step into the U.S. and become one of the fiercest rising artists today. She started from zero because she couldn’t speak a word of English. It was indeed challenging. But thanks to her dedication, del Fabro made that big break in three-time Oscar nominee Logan’s film.

The Big Announcements

The Cannes Film Festival offers a huge platform. Setting the standards for all those in the trans/non-binary community, del Fabro grabbed this opportunity with both hands. They officially announced her transition to she/they pronouns.

By doing so, del Fabro made a dominant statement, opening opportunities for her community’s people who believe they do not have an open door to such huge platforms. Del Fabro tirelessly worked their way onto the global stage and also laid the foundation for future stars from their community.

Alongside this powerful announcement, while talking to the paparazzi, del Fabro dropped hints of their future plans. She mentioned a project—a TV show with Logan. This is another milestone for an emerging artist like del Fabro. Additionally, she spoke about the release of their new album.

The Cannes Film Festival indeed made del Fabro’s fan following jump with excitement.

The Move to New York

At the Cannes Film Festival, del Fabro talked about how they are in love with New York City. While they have not, for a moment, forgotten about their Brazilian origins, they have found peace and comfort in the hustle and bustle of New York.

She moved to New York to pursue her passion and make it big in the industry, not just for herself but also to forge a path for others in their situation.

Del Fabro’s love for this city that never sleeps has become much more evident from recent events. They have purchased their first house in New York. The city has rewarded them with a safe space where they can be themselves without a care in the world.

Del Fabro is indeed an epitome of success and definitely an icon for the trans/non-binary community. Being cast by one of the biggest names in the industry and being invited by the most famous luxury brand to the world’s most prestigious film festival are a few of the milestones they

have managed to tick off their to-do list. It is exciting to see what more they will achieve, as they have no plans to stop.

Darwin del Fabro—up, up and away!
